Brazilian Ammonium sulfate Prices Plummet in June 2023

Between January and June of this year, there was a 64% decrease in the price. In the first month of the year, the price of fertilizer was R$4,400 per ton. By mid-June, the product was quoted at R$1,584 per ton.

With the war in Ukraine – an important supplier of fertilizers – the Brazilian market was expecting an increase in the price of potassium fertilizers, but contrary to expectations, the value of the product has experienced a significant decline. The downward trend in the value of potassium has been occurring since the end of 2022. There was a decline of 67% during the previous year, according to Verde Agritech company.

Ammonium sulfate experienced the largest price drop, with a reduction of 73% since the beginning of the year, followed by urea with 71%. Currently, ammonium sulfate is priced at R$696(USD145) per ton, and urea at R$1,344(USD281) per ton.
