Is Ammonium Sulphate Under Suspicion At Beirut, Lebanon?
Previously, the company “N.R&S Trading Co,” which is owned by members of the AL-Rifai family, submitted an official request to the Lebanese Ministry of Agriculture for the importation of ammonium sulphate. Following the submission of the relevant documentation to the ministry’s competent department, the company was granted authorization to import “ammonium sulfate” from China via Turkey to Beirut port in accordance with the established protocol.
After the Beirut Port Agricultural Quarantine Center collected representative samples from several floors, they were sent to the official laboratory approved for this purpose, the Laboratory of the Lebanese Agricultural Science Research Agency in Al-Fanar, which is approved by the Ministry. The Ministry of Agriculture issued a statement based on the results of the laboratory analysis: It conforms to the declared content, which is ammonium sulfate。 So the suspicious cargo at Beirut, Lebanon is not deadly ammonium nitrate.
The ministry emphasized that it is committed to implementing all public safety and food safety conditions in the entry and importation of agricultural products, as well as fully coordinating with all relevant ministries and competent security agencies, with national security and food safety taking precedence.
